Bulletin: International Conference - University of Crete

The 1st International Conference on Languages for Specific Purposes (L.S.P.) will be hosted by the University of Crete (UoC) on the 7/8 February, 2009. This fresh initiative, the work of a team of vibrant, experienced teachers of L.S.P. at the UoC, *promises to be an inspiring weekend full of plenary sessions, workshops and discussion. *

*This conference is designed for any teacher or researcher who is interested in raising the bar in the fields of L.S.P. and Language for Academic Purposes, and who relishes the idea of examining and discussing the latest theory and research and its application to the modern-day classroom. *

*In addition, any educators in the field of foreign language teaching who are keen to keep abreast of cutting-edge practice and ideas would also benefit from attending the conference: the exchange of opinions with colleagues from abroad, and the inspirational knock-on effect that most attendees to conferences feel post event is one that ultimately benefits our target audience--the language learner. *

*All in all, thirty papers will be presented. Among others, topics include how to design an e-learning course, how to use project-oriented and portfolio-oriented approaches, how to use corpora, how to improve your students' writing skills, how to implement TBL lessons, how to deliver a multimedia course using Moodle and how to enhance critical awareness in Business English courses.*

*The early registration closes on **December 2, 2008**. For anyone interested in learning more about this conference, please visit: http://lspcrete.wordpress.com < http://lspcrete.wordpress. com/ >*

*The organisers would like to express thanks to the UoC, the Greek Ministry of Education and the Sponsors (published on the site) for helping to bring this event into realisation. *
